A Message from our Pastor
Rev. Nick Alander
Thank you for taking the time to see what we are all about. I think one of the most important things about a church is to know what they’re all about. First and foremost, we are about Jesus. That may sound cheesy, but it’s the truth. The reason we exist as a church is to serve the Lord. Plain and simple.
What is our church like? We are a very warm and friendly church who welcomes everyone regardless of their background. We are not the uptight “churchy” kind of people that you may be used to either. Our fellowship of believers are the genuine article. We strive not to be the “Sunday morning Christian,” but to live our faith in our daily lives as well.
What to wear? Wear what you would like. We range from jeans and t-shirts to ties and dresses. Jesus Himself spoke to people of all walks of life, in all sorts of different cultures, and we would like to follow His model. The important thing isn’t whether you are “dressed up” but that you are here.
Where do I go when I get here? The entrance to our auditorium is on the east side of the brick building. For Sunday School, if you walk just a short way past the brick building, you will find the door to our Fellowship Hall.
What should I expect for service? As the service begins, we have announcements, then some music. Our services have been traditional in their music, although we have been adding some praise music, and we have occasional specials by those who feel led to do so. I bring a message based on the Bible, then we close with a song and a time of invitation.
The invitation is a time where you are invited to interact with God, either silently where you sit or stand, or by coming down to the front of the auditorium where I will be standing and you can discuss with me what God is leading you to do. It is all according to what you want to do. Then we pray and that's it! But don't feel obligated to come to the front unless you believe God is leading you. I'm just there to assist you if He does.
Who is Pastor Nick? Just a little bit about myself...I began filling in as the supply pastor for First Baptist Church in July of 2007, and in October of 2007, was called to serve as the pastor of this wonderful church. I have been married since 2001 to my wonderful wife Sally. We were blessed with our sons Isaiah and Billy, and our daughter Eliana. Sally, Isaiah, and I moved to Missouri from Rogue River, OR in April of 2006 to further pursue the ministry by attending Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and College. As it turns out, the Lord had plans for us as well, and we feel very blessed that the Lord has entrusted us with a piece of His church. I would like to personally invite you to join us this Sunday in worship. God bless you!
